Fire extinguishers bi-annual testing

There is a fire extinguisher in each bus.  All fire extinguishers are checked by an external company bi-annually and recorded in the Essential Services cabinet located in the main entrance Lalor St. Buses are to be available at Lalor St for fire extinguisher testing.

 

Fire extinguishers pre-trip inspection

Fire Extinguishers are to be checked by the Bus Safety Worker and defects recorded in the Bus Daily Pre-Trip Check Form BSF-04. Bus drivers are to check the following:

 

For the extinguisher to be classified as being in the “ready to use” condition:

•Each fire extinguisher should be fitted with a safety pin and security tie

•The tag is to be in date

•The indicator needle should be in the green section

 

 Any faults must be documented and addressed in:

•BSF-04 Bus Daily Pre-Trip Check Form

•Vehicle Maintenance and Defect Register K:\Admin\Vehicles\Vehicle Maintenance & Defect Register\

 

Any ‘Action required’ must be reported to and addressed by Manager and OH&S Representative
