Bus Safety and Compliance > Bus Maintenance Management System (MIS) > Bus Pre-Trip Inspection Procedure
Authorised by Chief Executive Officer
Revised Date: 4 October 2024
Before its first trip on an operating day, each bus will be inspected by an authorised person using the checklist:
•BSF-04 Bus Daily Pre-Trip Check Form
This form (BSF-04) must be returned to reception after the daily pre-trip check is completed. Any defects are reported to admin for inclusion in ADF-05 Vehicle Maintenance & Defect Register. For weekend bus pre-trip inspections, defects are reported immediately to the On-Call worker.
•Vehicle Maintenance & Defect Register K:\Admin\Vehicles\Vehicle Maintenance & Defect Register\
If a defect is found, then admin would then follow the defect reporting and clearance process.
If a critical defect is found, then the vehicle will not be used at all. A defect notice will be put on the steering wheel of the vehicle and the keys will be removed until such time as the vehicle is repaired and passes inspection.
The pre-trip checklist has been developed referencing VicRoads Vehicle Standards Information Bulletins (VSIs 26) and vehicle manufacturers specifications.
