Bus safety inspections will normally be carried out by a qualified mechanic using Bus Safety Inspection Checklist by Mechanic BSF-05, which has been designed referencing manufacturers specifications and VicRoads Vehicle Standards Information Bulletins (VSIs) No. 26. Bus safety inspections will be monitored using BSF-06:

Age of bus

Inspection frequency

 

Bus less than 5 years old

Every 3 months or 20,000kms whichever occurs first.

 

Bus 5 years old or more, or has travelled more than 500,000kms regardless of age

Every 3 months or 10,000kms whichever occurs first.

 

If defects are discovered during safety inspections, they will be reported and cleared following the defect and clearance reporting procedure.
