Position: Support Staff, Seawinds Supported Employment Service
Conditions: Employment Officer Level 1.1

Duties and Tasks
• Assist the Manager to ensure that the operations of Seawinds Nursery are consistent with established business practices and with the fundamental principles of supported employment.
• Provide day-to-day support, encouragement and training for employees of Seawinds Nursery
• Assist employees to undertake their given tasks to the best of their ability and develop a strong work ethic
• Active involvement in Customer Service and the growing and maintenance of nursery stock
• Provide support and assistance with basic nursery administration and the fulfilment of the contractual obligations of the nursery.
• Abide by the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations Act 2004 and legislative requirements
• Assume a responsibility to Quality Improvement of systems within nursery operations
• As a staff member of Kyeema Support Services Inc., participate in relevant meetings and training sessions with other Kyeema staff.
• Assist Manager with planning and implementation of individual training for employees
• Involvement in the development of participant EAPs, including liaison with participants, parents and carers
• Undertake documentation of daily DMI evidence sheets and any incident reporting notes.
• Be involved directly in relevant meetings.
General

Skills and Qualities
The following are a mix of qualities, skills and experience required for the position of Support Staff Member, Seawinds Nursery:
• Relevant knowledge and experience in horticulture
• A commitment to working with people with disabilities and to the Disability Service Standards, and relevant experience in this area.
• An understanding of the “supported employment” model
• Some knowledge of operation of a small business
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Driver’s license essential
Performance Indicators
Performance Indicators for the position of Support Staff Member will be negotiated for the coming year at the time of the annual appraisal.
At this time an evaluation will also be conducted of results for the past year.
