The names of employee Occupational Health & Safety Representative (HSR) and employer representatives shall be displayed at each work site notice boards.

 

The Sub-Committee

1.       The Program Managers of Kyeema Support Services Inc. shall negotiate with the employee representative regarding the Sub-Committee.

2.       Employees from the committee shall be encouraged to elect Occupational Health and Safety Representatives to represent the health and safety interests of the workers at Kyeema.  The organisation recognises the right of employees to freely elect HSRs.

3.       Program Managers will ensure that OHS information is provided to employees at sub-committee meetings and on notice boards.

4.       The sub-committee will meet to discuss matters of health and safety, both reactive and preventative.

5.       The Sub-Committee are deemed to have the authority to resolve OHS matters immediately. Matters involving costs beyond $35.00 are to be processed as per Kyeema's purchasing procedures.

 

All meetings will be minuted and items actioned. The minutes will be tabled for discussion at the OH&S committee meetings and made available to staff and participants within the Committee.

 

Health and Safety Representatives

The primary role of the health and safety representatives is to represent the health and safety interests of the workers in their area. HSRs can only perform their function in relation to their own area. Related activities of HSRs are as follows:

      HSRs will be provided with appropriate training to allow them to perform their duties. Section Managers will consult with HSRs and employees regarding OHS issues and where changes affecting health and safety are proposed.

      HSRs can accompany an inspector a Worksafe inspector during sight visits.

      HSRs can be at any interview between an employee and an inspector.

      HSRs can request the establishment of a health and safety committee.

      HSRs can issue a Provisional Improvement Notices.

      HSRs can request outside assistance be brought into the workplace.

 

Definitions

 

Sub-Committee:

A group of employees at a workplace determined pursuant to Section 29 of the OHS Act 2004

 

Health and Safety Representative:

A person elected by the members of a designated work group to represent them in health and safety matters
