Policy
To ensure the safety of all participants, staff, Contractors and their employees, Contractors working on Kyeema sites are required to comply with all relevant health and safety requirements, to possess the qualifications and/or registration expected for their trade/business and to have appropriate insurances including personal accident or WorkCover registration and public liability insurance.
Procedure
Contractors undertaking work for Kyeema are to provide proof of relevant qualifications and insurances, which will be filed at Kyeema.
Contractors undertaking low risk regular or routine work at Kyeema sites may complete a one-off Job Safety Analysis or Contractor Safety Information form SF-22 prior to commencing work. A copy must be provided to Kyeema and will remain current unless the nature of the work is substantially changed.
Contractors undertaking irregular or higher risk work, particularly where plant or machinery is used, are required to provide a Job Safety Analysis or complete Kyeema’s Contractor Safety Information form SF-22.
The Job Safety Analysis and/or Contractor Safety Information form SF-22 must be provided to Kyeema so that measures can be taken to manage all risks.
Checks Required for Therapy or Activity Contractors – Neighbourhood House
To ensure a safe and professional environment, and to meet our duty of care, all therapy or activity contractors working with the Neighbourhood House, who engage directly with members of the public, must have the following checks:
•A current Police Check or Worker Screening Check
•A valid Working with Children Check (if working with people under 18)
•Professional association membership & relevant qualification
•Current insurance, including public liability and professional indemnity
These checks help us ensure a safe and professional environment for our community.
Site Induction Briefing
The Kyeema worker who liaises with the Contractor is to ensure that the Contractor is aware of anything that could affect his/her safety and the safety or wellbeing of participants, staff and visitors.
• Contractors should be informed that additional care is required when working near people with disabilities as they may not be aware of risks. Additional staff supervision or barricades may be required.
• The Contractor should be informed of the location of drinking water, kitchen and toilets.
• Contractors unfamiliar with the 50 Lalor St Kyeema site are to be made aware of the existence of the Asbestos Report stored at the counter adjacent to the Admin office, are to be briefed on the location of asbestos at the building, and sign off in the back of the report that they have seen the report.

Contractors are to be shown the Asbestos Register located at Reception and are to familiarise themselves with the location of the asbestos and sign the back of the register to indicate they have read it.
Supervision
A Kyeema employee, or delegate, is to take responsibility for liaising with those Contractors who are carrying out high risk or non-routine work, ensuring that an induction briefing is carried out and that the Contractor has someone from whom he/she can seek information if needed.
Incident reporting: In the event of a safety incident, including a near-miss, occurs as a result of the presence of a contractor
