12. Staff are not to discuss & share personal life around participants.
13. Discourage discussion of participant’s personal issues in front of others. If participants do instigate such discussions try “protective interruption” (which means protect them from disclosing too much). Distract them or say it would be best to speak privately to you or someone at home.
14. On days you are working please attend start up meetings at 8.30am prior to start of work and staff meetings at 8.15am Tuesdays if working on that day.
15. If staff are unavailable and are unable to come to work, let the Day Activities Coordinator or On-Call know between 7.00am & 7.30am to allow time for relief staff to be arranged. When texting please wait for a response so you can be sure the message has been received.
16. Staff are to run changes to activities through Day Activities Coordinator.
17. Issues in staff meeting are to be kept confidential.
18. OH&S Hazard report forms are pinned to OH&S notice board in Admin area.
19. Participant’s homes/carers need to be notified of any injuries or incidents involving them. Sometimes a communication book is OK for this but if the person doesn’t have one or is likely to be upset or angry on arrival at home, please phone.
20. If the participant has been aggressive it is particularly important to warn home with a phone call.
21. If staff make a phone call home about a participant issue, please let the Day Activities Coordinator know so it isn’t done twice.

24. Staff are not to leave before 3.30pm unless by prior arrangement.
25. Staff are to follow program guide as closely as they can as this is what participants and their family have chosen. There may need to be occasional variations due to weather.
