Position: Support Worker -Supported Independent Living
Award and Condition: Kyeema Enterprise Agreement
Hours: including administration and direct care shifts
Responsible to: Housing Supervisor
Probation period: Three Months
Location: 50 Lalor Street office and two Palmer Street Portland SDA Houses.

Objective of Role
Support the delivery of high quality Supported Independent Living (SIL) services in a person-centred and strengths-based way, to enable the tenants to live a fulfilling and independent life.
Resident focused:
Ensure staff assist residents to develop life skills and encourage independence |
Support the opportunity for residents to engage in meaningful activities inside and outside the home |
Build trustworthy relationships with participants, carers, families, other providers while maintaining boundaries and privacy |
Ensure residents and their families are aware of complaints management (Speaking Up) systems and Incident Reporting procedures |
Promote advocacy systems that support resident rights such as house meetings and the Community Visitor Scheme |
Implement positive behaviour management strategies where required

Assist residents with personal care |
The ability to support residents to have fun and gain enjoyment in life
|
Willingness to support tenant’s health and wellbeing through a nutritious diet |
Support residents to make their own choices and build/maintain independence |
Support residents to maintain a clean and welcoming home |
Quality Assurance
Ensure Complaints Management and Incident Reporting systems are adhered to |
Provide services in accordance with OH&S guidelines and procedures |
Undertake all work in line with Kyeema policies and procedures and NDIS practice standards |
Reporting:
Ensure that all record keeping complies with service standards and Kyeema SIL requirements |
Report incidents to supervisor and/or to NDIS Commission |
Skills, Qualities Qualifications required for position of Housing Coordinator/Supervisor (Supported Independent Living)
The following are a mix of qualities, skills and experience desirable for the position of Housing Coordinator
• A proven ability to problem-solve and calmly troubleshoot problems that may arise in day-to-day operations
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, their families and other Kyeema staff.
• Well-developed time management and organisational skills
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment
• Effective note-taking and IT skills
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a team environment
• Certificate III Individual Support, Cert IV in Disability, or other relevant qualification
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain one
• First Aid with CPR
• Driver’s license
