Human Resources > First Aid & CPR Procedure
Authorised by Chief Executive Officer
Approved Date: 13 April 2023
This procedure explains how Kyeema will implement the First Aid & CPR Training Procedure. This procedure supports Kyeema to apply the NDIS Practice Standards & Quality Indicators, in particular: Standard 2: Human Resource Management & Standard 4: Provision of Supports Environment – Safe Environment.
Scope
This procedure applies to the Training Coordinator and Managers.
Procedure
• Kyeema funds all staff to be trained in First Aid and CPR annually
• Ongoing CPR needs to be held between mid-March to early April as this is when most certificates reach their expiry date
• Start to prepare in mid-January
• Consult with management and identify the provider before proceeding
• Contact the provider and discuss in principle the timeframes, venue, price, etc and get quotes for course fees, availability, length of courses, size of classes and venue
• Sentrient holds all the data re-staff CPR and First Aid
• Give to the Supports Manager with the completed list to make sure that Kyeema will fund all staff on the list
• Go back to provider early February and set the dates and times
• Process with a temporary booking the venue and sending out the dates to all staff for their selection by mid-February
• Add to CareLink as soon as possible remembering that the team leaders allocate shifts three weeks in advance, the stragglers will have to be emailed again and reminded
• Keep in constant communication with provider/trainer. The provider will set up courses and give each course a code. Please be mindful how many can be enrolled in each course/group. When people swap about it creates a lot of work for Team Leaders and it can get messy and confusing for Admin, RTO trainer and staff
• Once all staff are booked into the appropriate course dates, print and display courses, dates and times.
• Expect to get contacted by staff saying they did not get email, or they cannot log in.
• RTO to send the invoices to finance@kyeema.com.au
• Ensure the certificates are sent to both Kyeema and the individual staff member
• Print copy in black and white for file and save details on Sentrient to ensure compliance and accurate records
Supported Employees
• A face-to-face tailored/modified training course for supported employees will be required annually in consultation from Managers.
• Can be mid-May (approx. 5 or 6 supported employees)
Responsibilities
The training coordinator is responsible for organising and ensuring the workers have current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
Record Keeping
Carelink – workers actual training day/time is recorded in Carelink.
Sentrient – record of completed First Aid & CPR training.
Hard copies of the workers certificates are held in the staff files. The certificates may also be stored on Sentrient, however, a hard copy is required to ensure security and accuracy.
Electronic records prior to Sentrient LMS are located: K:\General Items for All Staff\Data Bases\First Aid & CPR Database
Review & Evaluation
Create a reflection/evaluation at the end of the sessions/courses.
