Policy
Kyeema understands and encourages adherence to Food Safety standards for Australia in relation to safe practices including handling and cooking of all food prepared at our organisation, hygiene of premises and equipment standards.
Procedures
Management and staff/support workers understand that there is a duty of care to implement and adhere to food management policies and ensure a level of protection to all persons who access the services facilities and or programs.
Most relevant staff hold Hygiene for Food Handlers Certificates and this training is offered to staff on a regular basis.
Kyeema’s food safety practices include:
1. Reinforce consistent food safety practices in the organisation.
2. Measures to reduce the risk of potential food borne illness.
3. Identification of potentially hazardous foods such as out of date products.
Particular care is taken in the following areas in relation to food handling:
1. Provision of food.
2. Handling of food
3. Preparing, including cooking, food processing, cooling and reheating of food.
4. Storing and protecting food from contamination
5. Disposing of food.
6. Transporting of food.
7. Cleaning food surfaces and equipment.
8. Maintenance of food storage equipment.
9. Maintaining the environment free from pests and vermin
Personal hygiene, in particular the effective washing of hands is required to reduce the risk of food borne illness and the cross contamination of different foods.
