Position: Green Fingers Gardening Supervisor
Award and Condition: Kyeema Enterprise Agreement
Hours: This is a front-line supervisor role but is linked with other supported employment management to create a full-time position. If unlinked, this may become a supervisor role again.
Responsible to: Supported Employment Manager
Location: 50 Lalor Street & in the community
Objective of role
To support, mentor and oversee the day-to-day planning and running of Green Fingers Gardening Service while providing encouragement, support and guidance to Supported Employees and Support Workers.
Green Fingers Gardening has a key part to play in Kyeema’s strategy of providing meaningful training and employment pathways for people with disabilities. While it is a recognised role, it is currently managed by the Supported Employment Manager along with Windward Industries.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist participants to transition into supported employment and provide ongoing guidance and support
• Assist participants to build skills and professional networks in a supported environment
• Identify and implement strategies to ensure continuous improvement of services
• Maintain professional networks within the community
• Maintain professional customer service skills
• Advocate for the best outcomes for people with a disability
• Build a trustworthy relationship with participants, carers, families and third parties while maintaining boundaries and privacy
• Respond to day-to-day workplace health and safety issues and where concerns arise ensure they are dealt with according to the principles of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and all relevant guidelines and legislation
• Complete all work in line with NDIS practice standards and organisational policies and procedures
• Ensure all support provided to Supported Employees aligns with Kyeema’s Vision and Mission statements
• Actively contribute to ongoing monitoring and review of your own work practices
• Provide a safe, supported and healthy environment for both Supported Employees and Support Workers
Tasks
Operations
• Liaise with customers in a professional manner to develop the scope and frequency of gardening work required, then schedule these jobs
• Take a “hands-on” role in the manual operational tasks associated with all gardening tasks
• Guide, co-ordinate, encourage and direct support staff and supported employees in gardening tasks
• Assist and guide staff in the documentation, and review of programs, job, task analysis and record keeping
• Assist to or record job times and invoice as required
• Provide and maintain training to encourage ongoing employment
• Help develop employment/support plan goals that best meet the needs of the supported employees
• Ensure all contractual obligations are met
• Assist in marketing and advertising of Green Fingers Gardening Services if required
Staffing:
• Supervise Green Fingers Gardening support staff and supported employees, including addressing any performance management concerns in a timely manner
• Maintain responsibility for staff recruitment and inductions, in liaison with other relevant managers and the CEO taking into considering supported employees NDIS plans and funding
• Maintain an efficient rostering system, covering any staff absence’s where necessary
• Assist, guide and support Direct Support staff and Supported Employees to carry out their job to the best of their ability by clearly defining their role and responsibilities and providing them with adequate resources and training
• Coordinate staff meetings and “tool box” meetings for the sharing of information
Training:
•Ensure supported employees and support workers undergo induction and are trained to their roles
•Seek relevant training opportunities for professional growth and development for self and staff
•Identify initial and ongoing training needs of supported employees and determine the best method to provide this training
Quality Assurance:
•Participate in Kyeema’s Continuous Improvement process
•Support Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures
•Contribute to the supported employees individual planning process, including but not limited to support plans and annual reviews.
Reporting:
•Report relevant programs, projects and activities to Kyeema’s Management Team Meetings. Verbal report to meeting with written report emailed to Office Manager for inclusion in meeting minutes.
•Participate in monthly Board Subcommittee meetings if requested to do so by the CEO.
•Ensure all service sheets are provided to the Finance Manager in a timely manner
•Ensure support staff and volunteers complete any incident reporting documentation for signing off and actioning
•Ensure that all record keeping complies with internal and external auditing agencies
Facilities and Equipment:
• Ensure general cleanliness and presentation of areas used by Green Fingers Gardening including but not limited to vehicles and equipment
• Ensure servicing and maintenance of Green Fingers Gardening vehicle
•Make arrangements, when required, for maintenance to Green Fingers Gardening facilities and equipment
General:
•Be actively involved in long term planning, with particular emphasis / representation of matters pertaining to own program area
•Participate in Kyeema’s Management Team meetings
•Oversee input into Kyeema Newsletter and social media of Program area
Financial/ Budget:
•In liaison with Finance Team, review departmental profit and loss statements and contribute to budget development
•Develop budgets for Green Fingers Gardening in liaison with Finance Manager
•Prepare funding submissions, where appropriate, for special projects or equipment.

•Kyeema holds a policy of zero tolerance to racism and has expectations that staff and volunteers will act on incidents of racism
•Kyeema has systems to protect children from abuse, will take all allegations very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with Kyeema’s policies and procedures

It is the responsibility of both parties, Kyeema (represented by the CEO and Finance Manager) to monitor any significant adjustments to the above as required.

• Administrative, report writing and IT skills appropriate to the software used
