Policy
Portland Neighbourhood House is able at times to provide a neutral, friendly, non-threatening facility to the community for events, support services and purposes that are complementary to the vision and purpose of Portland Neighbourhood House in supporting, educating, or connecting our community and individuals in our community.
Portland Neighbourhood House can be hired during the day, night, or at weekends (dependent upon availability).
Scope
The Facilities Hire will not apply to user groups that are aligned with the Neighbourhood House Program’s strategic purpose. Applicable groups will be determined by the Neighbourhood House Committee.
Conditions
• Hiring - Use of the house must be booked with the Neighbourhood House Coordinator.
• Fees - the hourly rate is $10-$20 per hour by negotiation and paid on the day or by invoice.
• Access - arrangement for key access/return is to be made with the Co-ordinator.
• Cleaning - the house must be left in a clean and tidy state. Equipment is available for cleaning purposes.
• Security - all windows and doors must be locked and security systems activated, when vacating the premises.
• Heating/cooling - may be used and turned off before vacating.
• Lighting - to be turned off before vacating except external security lights.
• Equipment - some items of equipment are available for use over and above general furniture and household items. Needs are to be discussed with the Coordinator.
• Food safety - the premises are registered with Glenelg Shire Council. Food safety standards are required to be observed.
• Tea/coffee - an urn/kettle and tea and coffee making supplies are available.
• Smoking - these premises and property are strictly non-smoking.
• Emergency management - exits, fire and evacuations procedures must be observed. Fire equipment is marked and accessible.
• Insurance - Groups or individuals using the facility may be required to produce proof of current public liability insurance. The Portland Neighbourhood House’s insurance can cover small and individual volunteer and self - help groups. This must be discussed with the Coordinator at the time of booking.
• Damage - deliberate damage to the facility will be paid for by the person/group responsible for hiring the premises. Serious or wilful damage will be referred to Victoria police.
• Hirers must follow any Government health directives applicable.
• Right to refuse - the Neighbourhood House Committee reserves the right to refuse the hire the facility to any group or individual whose objectives or behaviour is not compatible to Portland Neighbourhood House.
