Lalor Street Evacuation Drill Procedure relates to all:

       WORKERS

       PARTICIPANTS

       VISITORS who are present

 

Purpose

To ensure all Lalor Street staff & Participants are aware of the correct evacuation protocol in case of fire, emergencies or other critical incidents in the building. To practice evacuating so that it is swift and effective in the event of a genuine emergency.

 

       Evacuation Drills are to be conducted 4 times per year.

       Due to the nature of the work, where any staff members may be out the building at any time, a number of staff are trained in Fire Warden response.

       At least one Staff member is to be the nominated Fire Warden for the purpose of the drill.

 

Fire Warden Responsibilities

       Put on the yellow fire warden hat

       Help people to evacuate quickly and calmly.

       Do a final check to ensure everyone is out and all doors are shut

       Give the OK to re-enter the building

       Contribute to post-drill debrief.

 

Other Staff Responsibilities

       Respond immediately to the emergency alarm or warning.  

       Ensure that there is minimal removal of belongings.

 

Evacuation Drill Recording

After a drill has taken place the key staff involved will complete SF-23 Fire and Evacuation Exercise Record Sheet.

 

Suggested actions from this will be taken to appropriate bodies such as the OH&S Committee, staff or management meetings.

 

       Records of Evacuation Drills are to be maintained in an Evacuation Folder
