Participant Support Procedures > Monitoring Vulnerable Homebound Participants
Authorised by Chief Executive Officer
Issue Date: 5 June 2020
This procedure explains how Kyeema will monitor vulnerable participants who are homebound (restricted or confined to their home) and supported by one worker. This procedure supports Kyeema to apply the NDIS Practice Standards & Quality Indicators Module 4. Provision of Supports Environment - Safe Environment and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
Procedure
A participant who is confined to home and is unable to effectively communicate his/her needs may be placed in a vulnerable position under the care of only one support worker. Where a vulnerable participant is living alone with only one support worker, the participant will be monitored by the participant’s team leader every 2 months.
More frequent monthly monitoring may be undertaken at the team leader’s discretion. Another safeguard would be for the participant’s family, community advocate or friend to visit the participant and keep an eye on their wellbeing.
