Key Responsibilities

      Utilise a range of tools/equipment in the Nursery Trade

      Behave in a manner appropriate to standard workplace expectations

      Abide by the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations Act 2004 and legislative requirements

      Consider the safety and well-being of yourself and other colleagues before undertaking tasks

      Perform tasks to the best of your capability ensuring they meet Seawinds Nursery quality standards

      Attend additional training where required

      Notify your Supervisor of any concerns you may have regarding your colleagues, workplace or equipment

      Ask your Supervisor or Support Worker for help when required

 

Child Safe Responsibilities

       Kyeema holds a policy of zero tolerance to racism and has expectations that staff and volunteers will act on incidents of racism

       Kyeema has systems to protect children from abuse, will take all allegations very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with Kyeema’s policies and procedures

Duties Performed

      Germinating seeds

      Plant propagation for cuttings

      Potting up of seedlings into forestry tubes

      Re-potting of smaller stock plants

      On-going maintenance of health and growth of plants including but not limited to watering and fertilizing

      Preparation of appropriate plant mediums

      Sterilising of forestry tubes and pots

      Moving plants by trolley to appropriate igloos dependent on the growth stage of the plant

      Keep the igloos tidy, this may include but is not limited to general tidying and cleaning the cement floor with a pressure washer

      Garden or grounds maintenance including but not limited to weeding, pruning mulching and general tidy up

      Tree planting on occasions

      Contribute as a team member in Occupational Health & Safety issues

      Provide customer service and administration when necessary

      Ensure your worksite and lunch area is tidy

 

Objective of role

Help propagate and maintain plants while performing all required duties in a safe manner that meets the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations Act 2004.

      Must be eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme

      Must have Finding and keeping a job (CB employment) available in their NDIS plan

      Must possess good work ethic and a willingness to learn

      Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team

      Ability to follow workplace policies and procedures
