Seawinds Nursery is Commonwealth funded Australian Disability Enterprise; under the auspice of Kyeema Support Services; we provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Employees are trained in all aspects of nursery production and are expected to have a good understanding of production nursery techniques.
Employees are employed under the Supported Employees services Award.
Seawinds Nursery is a Wholesale/Retail Nursery located at 191 Wellington Rd, Portland. 90% of Seawinds Nursery stock is produced onsite using industry standard propagation techniques
The nursery site is leased from Portland Aluminum, and consists of both Kyeema and Portland Aluminum infrastructure
We specialize in the production of the indigenous plants of the Glenelg Shire in all its diversity from front line coastal areas of Bridgewater and Cape Nelson to the inland areas of Dartmoor, Casterton and Coleraine and everything in between.
The dominate aspect of Seawinds production is contract growing for business catering to the environmental market, Landscapers, Landcare Groups, Greening Aust, Landholders, Developers, Council and Contractors.
We grow in the vicinity of 50,000 indigenous plants and 10,000 grasses annually.
We offer a tree planting service.
We carry a range of ornamental plants and fruit trees that we can guarantee will do well in our district for our retail customers and offer a plant brokerage service to locate those hard to find specialist plants.
Seawinds nursery produces a large range of heirloom veggie seedling and herbs for the domestic market.
Seawinds Nursery has had the opportunity to assist landowners with plants required for them to submit land management plans to help overcome issues with building within the restricted planning zones. We have the necessary computer software to compile lists of indigenous plants to a specific area.
Seawinds Nursery staffs have extensive horticultural qualifications and practical experience in all fields of horticulture; including industrial, domestic maintenance, landscaping, re-vegetation and we understand the process of providence and have developed a system within our nursery so it can be adhered to. We have a sound knowledge of climate, soil, and habitat and plant lore of the Glenelg Shire.
Seawinds Nursery has the resources, equipment, know-how and experienced employees to meet the plant requirements of Glenelg Shire Council, Industry and the community in general.
