Position: Program Planner
Award and Condition: Kyeema Enterprise Agreement
Responsible to: Supports Manager
Hours: By Arrangement
Location: 50 Lalor Street Portland and in the community
Objective of Role
Under guidance of the Supports Manager and delegated team leaders, plan and create safe and successful activities that aim to increase confidence and reach participant goals in a manner that upholds human rights, dignity and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and create cost-efficient programs suitable to individuals and groups taking into consideration things such as age, gender, likes and dislikes.
Develop programs that support participant goals and roster staff to these
Identify and resolve programming problems and keep management informed of any issues.
Complete any additional administrative duties including, but not limited to, excursion activity checklists, medication forms and communication about individual participant needs
Meet Kyeema’s policies, procedures, standards, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004
Child Safe Responsibilities:
•Kyeema has systems to protect children from abuse, will take all allegations very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with Kyeema’s policies and procedures
•Kyeema is committed to promoting cultural safety of Aboriginal children, cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.
•Kyeema holds a policy of zero tolerance to racism and has expectations that staff and volunteers will act on incidents of racism
•Kyeema is committed to ensuring the acceptance and inclusion of participants' and workers' gender identities
The need for flexibility in the disability sector may impact on the key task areas as listed above. Any changes to the job role will be by negotiation with managers.
Skills and Qualities required for position of Program Planner
- Understanding of disability standards and Kyeema’s policies and procedures
- Ability to relate respectfully to participants, families, staff and other stakeholders of Kyeema including the team leaders
- Ability to initiate and maintain contacts with a range of people in the wider community
- The ability to think of innovative activities for the programs
- Organisational skills
- Administrative, report writing and IT skills, as required for the software used
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
