PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

PRE-OPERATION

ü Check workspaces and walkways to ensure no slip/trip-hazards are present

ü Check that all safety guards are in position and are operational

ü Ensure you are familiar with the operation of the ON/OFF starter and E-Stop

ü Keep table and work area clear of all tools, off-cut timber and sawdust

ü Start the dust extraction unit before using the machine

ü Faulty equipment must not be used. Immediately report suspect equipment

SAFE OPERATION

ü Keep hands well clear of the blade – ‘the hand hazard zone’

ü The workpiece must be held firmly against a fence

ü Allow the saw blade to obtain maximum speed before making a cut

ü Operate the saw with the left hand where possible

ü When using the right hand to pull the saw across, keep the left hand, especially the thumb well clear of the line of cut

ü Return the cutting head to the rear of the table after each cross cut

ü The maximum cut for the machine must not be exceeded

ü When cutting bowed timber place the bow against the table to avoid the saw binding

ü Before making adjustments switch off and bring the machine to a complete standstill

POST-OPERATION

ü Switch off the saw and reset all guards to a fully closed position

ü Leave the machine in a safe, clean and tidy state

DON’T

û NEVER attempt to cut round stock (dowel) or rip-cut timber along the grain

û Avoid reaching over the saw line. Do not cross arms when cutting
