Purpose

To eliminate the risk from hot water scalding in respiratory Support Centre when running water into sinks and the potential for slips.

 

Applies to

All staff and employees

 

Training

Staff to train/support employees on task.  Supervision is required to ensure running water is at a moderate temperature.  This may need to be done every time until employees can follow procedure correctly.

 

Safety

PPE: Apron, rubber gloves.  Staff to fill detergent container to prevent spillage.  Use a visual system to guide employees to enable easier comprehension of positioning of water taps to run water at a safe temperature e.g. red marking tape

 

Pre-Operational Checks

Full detergent containers.  Water set to cold after filling sinks.  Rubber floor mats are correctly locked into place.

 

Hazard Assessment

List here all aspects of the job e.g. Manual handling, Chemical hazards

Possible detergent spill may create slippery floor
