Purpose

      To conduct work in a safe manner and to wear appropriate PPE i.e. safety glasses

      Task Analyses must be followed to ensure everyone is following correct procedure

 

Applies to

All Windward Industries staff and employees working on PA/WI premises

 

Training

Staff to train/support employees on task

 

Staff to ensure employees are supervised/supported as need arises. One on One support required for first four weeks. Document in individual training documentation.

 

Safety

Set up workstation to eliminate tripping hazards i.e. No boxes protruding into work areas and walk ways. Ensure correct feeding in of garments, gloves into cutting blade. DO NOT touch enclosed cutting head unnecessarily.

 

Pre-Operational Checks

Electrical cord has got a current safety check

 

Hazard Assessment

List here all aspects of the job e.g. Manual handling, Chemical hazards

      Minimize manual handling of any large items. Ask for assistance

      Keep workstation clean and free of large amounts of cut garments. PACK AS YOU GO!!

      Never inspect cutters whilst in operating mode. ALWAYS TURN OFF SWITCH AND AT POWER POINT  AND REMOVE PLUG BEFORE REMOVING MATERIAL.

Detailed Procedure

Brief numbered steps of job task. Include flow chart where required:

 

1.       Employees to wear correct PPE, Safety glasses

2.       Check for hazards i.e. electrical cord, adequate floor space around processing area.

3.       Process on type of garment only. DO NOT MIX garments. Staff to supervise set up procedure.

4.       PACK AS YOU GO!!   If unsure what to do check with staff. 

5.       Pack 5 kg of cut garments per card board box/plastic bag unless told otherwise. Transfer bags to storage shelf.
