Key Duties
Participant Specific
• Carry out all duties in a manner which demonstrates respect for the rights and dignity of the participant
• Provide guidance, support and encouragement to the participants on a continuous basis
• Assist the Nursery Manager with planning and implementation of individual training of Support Employees
• Work in line with the individual’s employment support plan goals
• Provide support to individuals or small groups to with the goal of increasing their independence
Responsibilities
• Ensure work practices are compliant with the Disability Standards
• Abide by the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations Act 2004 and any other site specific legislative requirements
• Attend any additional training offered by the Management Team
• Participate in annual staff appraisals by Management
• Maintain effective workplace relations via honest and respectful communication with colleagues
• Ensure completion of day to day tasks follow Kyeema’s policies and procedures
Child Safe Responsibilities
•Kyeema holds a policy of zero tolerance to racism and has expectations that staff and volunteers will act on incidents of racism
•Kyeema has systems to protect children from abuse, will take all allegations very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with Kyeema’s policies and procedures
•Kyeema is committed to promoting cultural safety of Aboriginal children, cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability
•Kyeema is committed to ensuring the acceptance and inclusion of participants' and workers' gender identities
Administrative tasks:
• Provide support and assistance with general administrative duties including but not limited to answering the phone and responding to emails
• Access work emails on a regular basis
• Undertake any written documentation and reports, as well as verbal reporting as requested by management
Site specific tasks:
• Assume a responsibility to quality improvement systems within nursery operations
• Assist in the involvement of growing and maintaining nursery stock
• Provide high quality customer service
• Report any incidents that may occur and provide a copy to the relevant people

General
Kyeema Support Services Inc. is an innovative service endeavouring to provide the best service possible for people who have a disability. To do so we must remain flexible, and able to adapt to peoples changing needs. It is acknowledged that such flexibility may impact on the key task areas as listed above. It is the responsibility of the CEO and relevant managers to monitor any significant adjustments to the above as required.
Skills and Qualities required for position of Seawinds Nursery Support Worker
The following are a mix of qualities, skills and experience required for the position of Seawinds Nursery Support Worker
• Relevant knowledge and experience in horticulture
• The willingness to take instruction and learn more about the above
• A general understanding of supported employment
• Ability to relate to the people we support, families and staff and other stakeholders of Kyeema
• Organisational Skills
• Administrative, report writing and basic IT skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Requirement of Position:
• Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Modules
• Driver’s License
• Police Check
• Working with Children’s Check
• Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme Check
• Up to date First Aid Certificate (First Aid & CPR)
