Support Coordination is a service funded by the NDIS to assist people to get the most from their NDIS funds. Kyeema is registered for Level 2: Coordination of Supports.

 

Support Coordination is a separate department which sits at arm’s length and must abide by rules that include a robust Conflict of Interest Policy to avoid leading the participant towards Kyeema’s supports if there are options that better suit the participant.

 

Support Coordination is an independent role to other roles that Kyeema staff may hold whilst employed at Kyeema. The support coordinator cannot hold dual support roles for a participant. For example, a support coordinator cannot concurrently be a team leader or support worker for that particular participant.

 

Support Coordination aims to support people to access mainstream and community supports where possible. It is used where the participant has complexity of need or a lack of informal supports to assist with decision-making.

 

Participants will be given options of possible service providers (where available) to offer choice and control of the supports that they may choose to receive. Participants will have Conflict of Interest policy explained and will be asked to sign acknowledging this.

Documentation of service providers (other than Kyeema) that are offered to participants are to be noted on participants Carelink.

 

Support Coordination aims to be a time-limited NDIS item, in the expectation that most participants will require less of it as time goes on.

 

Reporting to the NDIS must be completed at particular intervals. Reports are emailed to the NDIS.
