Introduction

Kyeema recognises that employees may, as part of their normal duties, be at risk of exposure to infectious diseases including those that are vaccine-preventable.

 

This procedure explains how Kyeema will implement worker vaccination requirements to help keep workers and participants safe from infectious diseases.

This procedure supports Kyeema to apply the National Disability Services Standards: Standard 2.2 Provider Governance and Operational Management - Risk Management

 

Scope

This procedure will apply to all people who attend any Kyeema premises, including all other Kyeema properties where work is completed.

•   support workers, CEO, corporate services workers, managers, team leaders, support coordinators, administration and supported employment workers

•   third party providers and extends to allied health professionals and contractors who attend Kyeema sites

•   volunteers, Board directors, students on placement, bus drivers

Definitions

Pandemic:  is an epidemic of infectious disease that has spread through the human population across a large region, e.g. multiple continents

Vaccination: getting a vaccine through the appropriate method ie injection or other means.

 

Procedure

All workers who wish to support participants in aged care facilities are required to receive the following vaccinations:

•   COVID 19 vaccination as per government guidelines unless an authorised medical professional has issued them an exemption.

•   annual Influenza Vaccination

Workers will need to provide proof of vaccination before working in aged care facilities.

 

Disability workers who do not work in aged care facilities are not required to have Covid19 vaccinations or the annual flu vaccination.

 

Responsibilities

HR is responsible for updating the vaccination database.

 

Record keeping

Kyeema will maintain secure & confidential records relating to workers vaccination status.
