Position:  Woodbox Equipment Maintenance Officer

 

Award and Condition: Kyeema Enterprise Agreement

 

Hours: By Arrangement

Responsible to: ADE Manager, CEO

 

Location: 50 Lalor Street, Portland Woodwork Workshop, titled “Woodbox”

 

Key Responsibilities

       In consultation with the ADE Manager discuss all recommendations regarding current and future equipment purchases, any workshop concerns and any safety concerns that may arise within the Woodbox

       Regularly check and maintain all woodwork equipment while keeping an up to date record of all safety equipment checks

       Communicate with the ADE Manager regularly about any issues, safety concerns or misuse of the equipment and workshop

       Assist all users of the workshop space to maintain cordial and professional relationships with each other 

       Respond to day to day workplace health and safety issue within the Woodbox, ensuring they meet with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. Communicate these issues with the ADE Manager

       Note Hazards/Near Misses and or safety incidents according the Kyeema’s procedures

       Kyeema holds a policy of zero tolerance to racism and has expectations that staff and volunteers will act on incidents of racism

       Kyeema has systems to protect children from abuse, will take all allegations very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with Kyeema’s policies and procedures

       Kyeema is committed to promoting cultural safety of Aboriginal children, cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability

       Kyeema is committed to ensuring the acceptance and inclusion of participants' and workers' gender identities

 

Objective of Role

Maintain a tidy and safe working environment by ensuring the Woodbox workshop and equipment is regularly checked, maintained and meets both internal policies and procedures and OH&S standards and regulations.

General

Kyeema Support Services endeavours to provide the best service possible for people who have a disability. To do so we aim to remain flexible and adaptable to participants’ changing needs. It is acknowledged that such flexibility may impact on the key task areas as listed above.

       Qualifications and/or experience in the use and maintenance of woodwork plant and equipment

       Ability to maintain an up-to-date record of all equipment safety details

       Organisational skills

       Demonstrated ability to abide by Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
