Green Fingers Gardening Service is a supported employee program. Workers do mowing and general gardening for the Portland community giving participants a chance to develop useful skills and earn an income. Customers contact the supervisor directly or Kyeema reception Lalor St.
Scope
This procedure refers to all workers who operate Green Fingers machinery and or tools.
This procedure supports Kyeema Support Services to apply Standard 2: Governance and Operational Management of the NDIS Practice Standards – Risk Management

Definitions

Procedure
Workers must be trained to do their work tasks safely and must demonstrate an ability to follow the safe work procedures. Simply reading the documented procedure is not enough and supervisors must ensure that the safe work procedures are followed at all times.
Before commencing works at Green Fingers Gardening Service all Green Fingers supervisors and workers are to undergo training in the use of the equipment.
The supervisor/manager to complete the following forms for each worker:
1. Relevant Worker Task Assessments for each worker (GRF02 to GRF 24)
2. Worker Training and Level of Competency in use of Equipment GRF-01
Awareness and training
All policies, procedures and required documents are available on the Kyeema QMS and are accessible for workers and managers. All workers are aware of, trained in and comply with the required procedures in relation to Green Fingers machinery, tools and procedures. Associated procedures and forms are:

Responsibilities
Induction is the responsibility of the Green Fingers Manager/Supervisor
•Worker Training and Level of Competency in use of Equipment GRF–01
Workers are responsible for using PPE (personal protective equipment)
•Hearing protection - ear muffs
•Eye protection - safety glasses
•Foot protection - steel capped work boots
•Body protection- long pants and hi–vis tops
•Hands - gardening gloves or work gloves
•Breathing mask (herbicide, fertiliser, air compressor)
•Helmet (pole chainsaw/trimmer)
•Sun protection
Green Fingers workers are responsible for maintaining the facility as a safe and workable environment which includes:
•Reporting hazards and areas/equipment in need of maintenance
•Cleaning up after use
•Emptying dust extraction bags when they are full
•Keeping floors and walk ways clear of obstructions
•Locking up facility after use
Record keeping
Kyeema must keep and maintain appropriate records. Records must be kept in confidential files for 7 years from the date the record was made.

K-drive
•Worker training noted on Kyeema electronic database: K-drive\General Items for all Staff\Staff Induction Completed Database
Reporting
Manager/Supervisor will report all serious incidents to the Chief Executive Officer and follow the Incident Reporting Procedure
Review
A periodic review of all the safe work procedures is to be done to ensure they are current and effective and make amendments as appropriate. Review the safe work procedures when there is a change to the workplace, or after an injury or near miss associated with the task. Review worker training and level of competency in use of equipment as required and update GRF-01
